\nMeteorological authorities in the United Kingdom have warned that a phenomenon known as \u201cblood rain\u201d could occur in the coming days as a cloud of reddish desert dust moves toward the country.<\/p>\n
Media reports, including coverage by the Daily Mail, said a large dust plume originating from the Sahara Desert is currently moving across Europe and heading toward Britain. When this dust mixes with rainfall, the water droplets may appear reddish in color, creating what scientists describe as the \u201cblood rain\u201d effect.<\/p>\n
The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service reported that the large aerosol cloud consists mainly of Saharan dust along with traces of smoke produced by seasonal biomass burning in tropical parts of Africa.<\/p>\n
According to Mark Parrington, a senior scientist at the Copernicus monitoring center, the dust plume is expected to pass at high altitudes over southern England and the English Channel. If rainfall occurs at the same time, wet dust deposits may reach the ground.<\/p>\n
Scientists note that the phenomenon is not unusual, as strong winds in the upper atmosphere can transport Saharan dust across long distances, sometimes reaching northwestern Europe.<\/p>\n
