\nTransparency International\u2019s latest report reveals Afghanistan to stand among the world\u2019s most corrupt countries in 2025, reflecting worsening governance challenges and declining global anti-corruption performance, Khaama Press reported.<\/p>\n
The annual Corruption Perceptions Index ranks Taliban controlled- Afghanistan 169th out of 182 countries in 2025, earning only 16 points out of 100, marking another decline compared with recent years.<\/p>\n
In 2024 Afghanistan scored 17 points and ranked 165th, while earlier years showed slightly better results, confirming a steady deterioration in governance, accountability mechanisms, and public sector transparency.<\/p>\n
The Corruption Perceptions Index measures perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide, using expert assessments and institutional evaluations, scoring countries from zero, meaning highly corrupt, to one hundred, indicating strong transparency.<\/p>\n
Experts note that countries with weak judicial independence, limited civil liberties, and fragile oversight institutions are particularly vulnerable to corruption, especially where political financing systems and accountability frameworks remain opaque.<\/p>\n
The report lists Denmark, Finland, Singapore, New Zealand, and Norway among the cleanest countries, while South Sudan, Somalia, Venezuela, Yemen, and Libya occupy the lowest global rankings for corruption perception.<\/p>\n
Transparency International warns most countries are failing to control corruption, with the global average score declining, signaling worsening governance trends and increasing risks even across previously stable democratic nations.<\/p>\n
