WFP said the initiative aims to support education by encouraging families to keep children in school while addressing hunger affecting vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n
According to the agency, meals fortified with vitamins and minerals help improve children\u2019s concentration, learning ability, and overall health in classrooms across the country.<\/p>\n
The organization previously described school feeding as life-saving for many Afghan children who often rely on these meals as their main daily nutrition source.<\/p>\n
UNICEF earlier reported that about 942,000 children in Afghanistan suffer from severe acute malnutrition, while another 700,000 face moderate malnutrition risks.<\/p>\n
The United Nations also estimates that more than 17 million people in Afghanistan are experiencing food insecurity as economic pressures and humanitarian needs continue to grow.<\/p>\n
