UN Says Gaza Aid Efforts Continue Amid Storm Damage and Evacuation Orders

The United Nations said on Tuesday that humanitarian operations in the Gaza Strip are continuing despite ongoing obstacles, as severe weather damaged thousands of temporary shelters and new evacuation orders were issued in parts of southern Gaza, according to a UN briefing reported by Anadolu Agency.<\/p>\n
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq, citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said aid agencies are working under daily constraints that affect the pace and reach of relief efforts. He noted that recent storms hit around 80 displacement sites across Gaza, damaging or destroying an estimated 4,000 family shelters.<\/p>\n
Haq said more than 660 displaced families have received emergency assistance, including food supplies, tents and tarpaulins. He stressed the urgent need for longer-term shelter solutions, such as repairing damaged homes, clearing rubble to free up land, and restoring essential water and sanitation infrastructure.<\/p>\n
He also reported that the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders in Bani Suheila and eastern areas of Khan Younis, east of what Israel describes as the yellow line. OCHA estimates that over 400 families remain in the affected areas.
