Pakistan on Saturday condemned the reported profiling of mosques and mosque management committees in India-controlled Kashmir, Dawn E-Paper reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official statement issued describes the \u201cblatant intrusion into religious affairs\u201d as a \u201cgrave violation of the fundamental right to freedom of religion and belief\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FO\u2019s statement comes after police in the occupied valley distributed forms to \u201ccollect\u201d financial and personal details of mosques and seminaries, including mosque leaders and members of management committees, according to a report by the Hindustan Times, which quoted local residents and Kashmiri leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The action \u201creflects yet another coercive attempt to intimidate and marginalise the Muslim population of the territory,\u201d the FO said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forms included sections for seminary teachers and mosque leaders to provide details of their \u201cAadhaar cards, bank accounts, property ownership, social media handles, passport, ration card, driving licence, SIM cards and mobile phone model along with the IMEI\u201d, the Hindustan Times reported. It added that details regarding the \u201creligious sect\u201d of the mosques were also sought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FO maintained that the \u201cpeople of Jammu and Kashmir possess an inalienable right to practice their religion without fear, coercion or discrimination\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPakistan will continue to stand in solidarity with them and will persist in raising its voice against all forms of religious persecution and intolerance targeting Kashmiris,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
