The military described the year as a turning point in Pakistan\u2019s prolonged campaign against militancy.<\/p>\n
The assessment comes as independent Pakistani research organisations noted a reduction in militant attacks and fatalities toward the end of the year. The decline followed Islamabad\u2019s decision in October to partially close its border with Afghanistan amid rising security concerns and increased cross-border infiltration attempts.<\/p>\n
At a news conference in Rawalpindi, military spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said forces conducted 75,175 intelligence-based operations, averaging more than 200 missions per day. He described 2025 as a \u201clandmark\u201d year, citing what he called unprecedented alignment between the state and the public on counterterrorism efforts.<\/p>\n
Military data presented at the briefing showed 5,397 militant incidents nationwide. The northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number, with 3,811 attacks, while 1,557 incidents occurred in the southwestern province of Balochistan, both long affected by insurgency and militant violence.<\/p>\n
Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan\u2019s accusations that Afghan-based groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Balochistan Liberation Army, were involved in attacks, claims denied by Kabul.
