The issue was highlighted during the national conference of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, held at the historic Asafi Imambara in the northern city of Lucknow. Participants discussed key issues including the protection of property, the safeguarding of Muslim rights, and the preservation of Islamic endowments. <\/p>\n
The conference drew around 2,000 participants from across India, as well as delegates from Nepal and Bangladesh. Speakers raised concerns about what they described as increasing intimidation and the spread of extremist rhetoric, warning of its potential impact on social cohesion while stressing their commitment to national unity and peaceful coexistence. <\/p>\n
Participants said Shia Muslims in India face growing political marginalization, with limited representation in elected offices and policymaking institutions.
