On the occasion of International Migrants Day, the Global Nonviolence Organization, also known as FreeMuslim, issued a statement reaffirming its solidarity with millions of migrants worldwide who continue to face difficult and often dangerous conditions.<\/p>\n
The organization said migration should not be viewed solely as a demographic phenomenon, but as a measure of the international community\u2019s commitment to justice, equality and respect for human dignity. It stressed that migrants\u2019 rights are inherent human rights and should not be treated as privileges or discretionary concessions.<\/p>\n
In its statement, Muslim Free voiced deep concern over the rise of hate speech, racism and discrimination targeting migrants in several countries. It warned that the politicization of migration has led to serious human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, denial of healthcare and the exposure of migrants to life-threatening risks during irregular migration journeys.<\/p>\n
The organization called on states that have endorsed the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration to fully uphold their obligations. This includes ensuring migrants\u2019 access to essential services such as education, healthcare and legal protection, regardless of their legal status, in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.<\/p>\n
FreeMuslim also urged governments to adopt and enforce legislation that criminalizes incitement to hatred and discrimination, and to end arbitrary detention practices, particularly those affecting women and children. It emphasized the need for humane alternatives that safeguard dignity and fundamental rights.<\/p>\n
In concluding remarks, the organization highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of migration by ending armed conflicts and supporting sustainable development in countries of origin.
