\nA rare original copy of one of the first Turkish translations of the Holy Quran by Mehmet Hamdi Yaz\u0131r has been discovered in a major library archive, Turkish theologian Necmi At\u0131k announced.<\/p>\n
According to IQNA, At\u0131k found the manuscript while researching Yaz\u0131r\u2019s works for his doctoral thesis, examining the personal library archives of Yaz\u0131r\u2019s grandson, Mehmet Hamdi Yaz\u0131r, in Istanbul. The manuscript, written in Yaz\u0131r\u2019s own handwriting, features clear and accessible language, though certain elements, such as the names of Allah, remain untranslated. The final two parts of the Quran are noted for their poetic style.<\/p>\n
Following the establishment of Turkey\u2019s Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) in 1924, Yaz\u0131r was asked to translate the Quran into Turkish after Mehmet Akif Ersoy withdrew from the task. Yaz\u0131r dedicated eight years to completing the translation, maintaining close communication with Diyanet throughout the process.<\/p>\n
