Similarly, in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and various other cities and villages across the country, believers organized mourning assemblies to observe the grief of Madar-e-Wafa (Mother of Loyalty).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Lucknow, mourning assemblies were held at Bargah Umm al-Banin (peace be upon her) in Mansoor Nagar. Likewise, a mourning assembly and communal meal (dastarkhwan) were organized at Masjid Kala Imambara Pir Bukhara. Additionally, women’s assemblies and communal meals were arranged at the homes of various believing women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Allahabad, as in previous years, a mourning assembly was held this year as well at the shrine of Hazrat Abbas (peace be upon him).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mourning assembly held in Banaras was addressed by Maulana Zameer al-Hasan, a teacher at Jamia Jawadia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mourning assemblies were also held in Jaunpur and Raebareli, which were addressed by various preachers (zakirin).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Similarly, mourning assemblies and commemorations were organized in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, and various other Shia-populated areas of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mourning assemblies were held in Imambargahs and mosques in Karachi, which were addressed by various scholars and preachers. Communal meals were also arranged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to reports, mourning assemblies were held in various mourning houses (aza khanas) in Quetta, in which believers participated in large numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Similarly, believing women also organized mourning assemblies, after which symbolic coffin processions (shabeeh-e-tabut) were also carried out.
