The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) has sharply criticized a new Ifop survey on Muslims in France, saying it reinforces negative stereotypes and contributes to a climate of growing Islamophobia, Anadolu Agency reported. In a statement, the council argued that although the poll was presented as an assessment of the relationship between Muslims, Islam and Islamism, it ultimately served to portray Muslim citizens and their religious practices in a negative light.<\/p>\n
The CFCM said several findings were \u201cquestionable\u201d and were already being used by anti-Muslim groups to depict Muslims as a threat to French society. It added that some conclusions contradicted narratives promoted by far-right movements, noting that Muslims account for no more than 7% of the population\u2014undermining claims associated with the \u201cgreat replacement\u201d theory.<\/p>\n
According to the council, the survey contained methodological flaws that undermined its credibility. It also disputed the claim that young Muslims are \u201cmore rigorous and more radical,\u201d explaining that younger respondents may overstate their religious commitment due to social pressures, while older respondents may understate theirs.<\/p>\n
