CENTCOM Says It Conducted 22 Operations Against ISIS in Syria Over the Past Month

\nUS Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it carried out more than 22 operations against remaining cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria over the past month, in coordination with local partner forces.<\/p>\n
In a statement cited by regional media, CENTCOM said the operations were aimed at preventing ISIS from rebuilding its military capabilities and safeguarding security gains achieved in both Iraq and Syria. The joint missions were conducted between October 1 and November 6 by the Combined Joint Task Force \u2013 Operation Inherent Resolve.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the raids resulted in the killing of five ISIS militants and the detention of 19 others. CENTCOM emphasized that these actions were designed to reduce the group\u2019s ability to operate internally and to prevent the spread of ISIS-linked violence beyond Syria\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n
Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, said: \u201cWe continue to actively pursue the remnants of ISIS in Syria and work closely with the international coalition to ensure security gains are preserved in Iraq and Syria, and to prevent the group from regenerating its operational capacity,\u201d according to Lebanon24.<\/p>\n
CENTCOM also reiterated that advising, training, and providing technical support to local partners remain central components of the United States\u2019 counterterrorism strategy in the region.<\/p>\n
