\nThe leadership committee of the Afghanistan Shia High Commission, in a meeting with Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban government, stressed the need to ensure meaningful participation and a fair share for the Shia community in the country\u2019s political and administrative structure.<\/p>\n
According to Shia Waves Agency citing Afghanistan International, the committee stated that despite the Shia population\u2019s support for security, stability, and national development, they have so far not received a proportionate or equitable role in the government.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on providing equal opportunities for participation in major decision-making processes and enabling Shia representatives to play an effective role in state institutions.<\/p>\n
International media have previously reported that the Taliban are seeking to improve relations with Shia leaders and foster greater national cohesion.<\/p>\n
