According to Shia Waves Persian, UNICEF stated that thousands of children in the earthquake-affected areas are facing severe risks due to critical shortages. The lack of safe drinking water, inadequate shelter, and insufficient food supplies are cited as the main drivers behind the increase in dangerous illnesses among children.<\/p>\n
Many affected families are spending nights without shelter or food, and access to clean water and sanitation facilities has drastically diminished. The organization confirmed that 132 water sources have been destroyed. Reconstruction is slow due to a lack of resources and ongoing insecurity.<\/p>\n
Local health centers have already reported a surge in cases of skin diseases, dehydration, and acute diarrhea, signaling a potential widespread health crisis in eastern Afghanistan if conditions persist.<\/p>\n
UNICEF stressed that urgent, coordinated international action and increased financial aid are critical to preventing the spread of this crisis. Of the $22 million required budget to provide assistance to earthquake survivors, only half has been secured so far.<\/p>\n
