Global Worry, Stress and Anger Rise Over the Past Decade, Gallup Report Finds

Worry, stress and anger have risen worldwide over the past decade, according to a new international report on emotional health published Monday, the Daily Sabah reported. The \u201cState of the World\u2019s Emotional Health 2025\u201d survey, conducted by the Gallup Institute, gathered responses from people aged 15 and older across 144 countries and regions.<\/p>\n
The report found that nearly four in 10 adults said they experienced significant worry or stress the day before being surveyed. In 2024, 39% reported high levels of worry and 37% reported stress, particularly in countries affected by conflict. Although worry levels slightly declined compared to pandemic years, they remain five percentage points higher than in 2014.<\/p>\n
Physical pain increased by 32% over the previous year, while sadness and anger remained unchanged but above their levels from a decade ago. Women reported higher rates of sadness, worry and pain than men. Despite the increase in negative emotions, most respondents continued to experience positive feelings. <\/p>\n
About 88% said they were treated with respect, 73% reported frequent laughter or joy, and more than half said they learned something new or did something interesting the previous day.
