Bahrain\u2019s General Directorate of Execution of Sentences and Alternative Sanctions has begun implementing a decision to release and reclassify several political prisoners as part of the country\u2019s open-prison program. More than 51 detainees from Jaw Central Prison were transferred to Al-Hamla Open Prison, where they are allowed to spend daytime hours with their families and return at night, pending full release once legal procedures are completed.<\/p>\n
Additionally, authorities at Al-Hamla Open Prison fully released 64 other political prisoners, removing their electronic monitoring bracelets imposed under alternative sentencing. The Prisoners Affairs Authority confirmed the list of transferred inmates.
