Iraq\u2019s Ministry of Agriculture announced that the National Afforestation Initiative has so far planted more than 8.7 million trees across the country, aiming to achieve five strategic environmental objectives. The program, launched under Prime Minister Mohammed Shia\u2019 Al Sudani during the 2023 Basra Climate Conference, seeks to enhance vegetation cover, improve air quality, and contribute to environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mahdi Saher Al-Jubouri emphasized the importance of modern irrigation techniques to ensure the long-term survival of the newly planted trees.
