\nSince July 2024, Sudan has recorded over 113,600 cholera cases, with more than 3,000 deaths, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The outbreak has reached a case fatality rate of approximately 2.7%. <\/p>\n
Anadolu Agency reports Darfur is among the hardest-hit regions. In Darfur\u2019s Tawila, which hosts over 500,000 internally displaced people, about 61% of the region\u2019s cases have been reported.<\/p>\n
A vaccination campaign has begun in six high-risk localities across South, East, and North Darfur, aiming to protect 1.86 million people. Delays in delivering vaccines\u2014due to access and logistical barriers\u2014have hindered earlier efforts. Beyond vaccination, WHO stresses that a comprehensive response also requires clean water, strong surveillance, treatment services, and community involvement.<\/p>\n
The conflict between Sudan\u2019s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces continues, complicating humanitarian access and health service delivery.
