Indonesia’s Mount Merapi Erupts, Spewing Ash Up to 1,000 Meters

\nMount Merapi, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes, erupted on Saturday morning, spewing a column of volcanic ash up to 1,000 meters above its peak, Anadolu Agency reported. The volcano is located in the province of West Sumatra.<\/p>\n
The eruption was recorded on a seismogram for approximately 41 seconds. According to the Mount Marapi Volcano Post, the gray ash column was seen leaning to the south. Authorities have kept the volcano’s alert level at Level II and have advised the public, tourists, and climbers to stay outside of a 3-kilometer radius from the crater. There have been no reports of casualties or damage to infrastructure.<\/p>\n
