In an address at the UN headquarters in New York, Guterres described the organization as a “living legacy” sustained by its staff, including peacekeepers and humanitarians. He pointed to the UN’s past achievements, such as preventing wars and improving global health, and stressed the historical precedent of humanity coming together to overcome challenges in times of crisis and division.<\/p>\n
