The commander, Omar Abdul Qader Bassam, also known as \u201cAbdul Rahman Al-Halabi,\u201d served as the group\u2019s head of external operations and security, the service reported.<\/p>\n
He was responsible for orchestrating attacks in several countries, including the bombing of Iran\u2019s embassy in Lebanon, and was involved in planning additional operations in Europe and the United States that were ultimately prevented through intelligence efforts.<\/p>\n
