According to Victor Galaz of the Stockholm Resilience Center, AI is enabling the creation of vast amounts of false content that can mimic human output and even fake academic research. This makes it increasingly difficult for scientists to communicate factual information to the public. Software developer Viktor Toth points to a phenomenon he calls “toxic alignment,” where AI systems reinforce users’ existing beliefs and biases, further entrenching them in digital echo chambers.
