Responding to an inquiry on the concept of \u2018uquq al-walidayn (disobedience to parents), Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that parental disobedience \u2014 regarded as one of the religious prohibitions \u2014 is defined as abandoning one\u2019s parents. He explained that even if a child lives under the same roof with his parents but remains estranged from them, it falls under this category.<\/p>\n
