On the eighth anniversary of the mass displacement of the Rohingya people from Myanmar, M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8res (Doctors Without Borders) has urged the international community and donor governments to take urgent, long-term action to resolve the crisis.<\/p>\n
Fran\u00e7ois Hajj, MSF’s head of mission in Bangladesh, emphasized that the occasion is not a time for commemoration, but a stark reminder of global failure to secure a sustainable solution. He warned that severe cuts to humanitarian aid are worsening the plight of Rohingya refugees and increasing their vulnerability to abuse.<\/p>\n
Hajj stressed that the Rohingya deserve more than survival, calling for a strategic shift beyond temporary aid and containment policies. He advocated for durable solutions that uphold their rights and dignity.<\/p>\n
Over 1.3 million Rohingya refugees currently reside in overcrowded camps in Cox\u2019s Bazar, Bangladesh, facing limited access to healthcare, education, and protection\u2014conditions particularly dire for women and children.<\/p>\n
