Severe flash floods in southern Yemen have impacted more than 100,000 people, according to a report released Tuesday by the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The humanitarian organization noted that torrential rains have caused widespread destruction, damaging homes, displacement shelters, farmland, and key infrastructure\u2014including roads, electricity lines, and water and sanitation systems\u2014leaving many communities without access to essential services.<\/p>\n
Emergency operations have been launched by the IRC in the hardest-hit governorates: Abyan, Lahj, Taiz, and Aden. These regions are also grappling with emergency levels of food insecurity, where many families face severe hunger and high rates of malnutrition. Local sources reported the death of a man named Fuad Bajash and the disappearance of his daughter following floods and rockslides in Jabal Habashi, Taiz.
