A team led by physicist Jian-Wei Pan at the University of Science and Technology of China demonstrated that their AI-driven method can calculate optimal arrangements for neutral atoms, addressing a long-standing challenge in the field.<\/p>\n<p>In their experiment, researchers successfully rearranged 2,024 rubidium atoms into precise grid formations within 60 milliseconds. By contrast, a previous effort last year managed 800 atoms without AI but required a full second. To illustrate the model\u2019s precision and speed, the team even generated an animated depiction of Schr\u00f6dinger\u2019s cat by guiding atoms with laser light.<\/p>\n<p>Neutral atom arrays are considered a promising platform for quantum computers, and experts welcomed the advance.
