\nA new report from UNICEF highlights the urgent humanitarian crisis facing children and families in the As-Sweida Governorate in Syria, following a surge in violence in July and early August, Reliefweb.com reported. The violence, which included attacks on civilian infrastructure, left at least 22 children dead and 21 injured.<\/p>\n
The fighting also caused significant damage to health centers and displaced more than 190,000 people, most of whom are women and children. In response, UNICEF has deployed fourteen mobile health and nutrition teams to provide essential supplies to over 4,000 children and women. The organization also delivered safe drinking water and fuel, benefiting over 30,000 people.<\/p>\n
Zeinab Adam, UNICEF Syria Deputy Representative, emphasized the critical importance of providing humanitarian actors with unhindered access to the affected communities. She stressed that this access is essential for both immediate aid and for the long-term restoration of basic services and stability.
