The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that global food commodity prices rose in July 2025 to their highest level in more than two years, fueled by increases in meat and vegetable oil prices.<\/p>\n
According to the agency, the average value of its Food Price Index \u2014 which tracks monthly changes in international prices of a basket of commonly traded food commodities \u2014 reached 130.1 points in July, marking a 1.6% increase from June. <\/p>\n
This figure represents the highest reading since February 2023, although it remains 18.8% lower than the record peak reached in March 2022 following Russia\u2019s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The FAO noted that the July surge in meat and vegetable oil prices outweighed declines in the prices of cereals, dairy products, and sugar.
