The young man, identified as Sk Amir, who was working in Rajasthan, was declared a foreign national and pushed across the border. Samirul Islam, TMC MP and chairperson of West Bengal, stated, \u201cHe is neither a Rohingya nor a Bangladeshi. He is a Bengali-speaking Indian who was forcibly deported.\u201d<\/p>\n
A video believed to show Amir circulated on social media, after which his father, Jiyem Sheikh, was informed that Amir was in a village in Bangladesh. Amir\u2019s family alleges that the police acted without any proper evidence and have sought legal recourse.<\/p>\n
Jiyem Sheikh has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court, requesting the court to facilitate his son\u2019s return. The petition notes that Amir was held in a detention center in Rajasthan for nearly two months before being deported, despite possessing valid proof of nationality.<\/p>\n
This case is reportedly not isolated. Several Bengali-speaking Muslims have faced similar forced deportations, with police accused of ignoring family appeals.
