According to Abdulbasit Abdul Latif, the head of the Syrian National Transitional Justice Commission, channels have been established to cooperate with Interpol and other international bodies to pursue Assad and his brother, Maher Assad. They are accused of severe crimes committed over the past fourteen years.<\/p>\n
The prosecution will extend beyond the Assad brothers to include military and security commanders, as well as foreign forces such as members of specific Lebanese groups.
