The report, which analyzed X&#8217;s open-source code, claims that the platform&#8217;s content-ranking algorithm systematically prioritizes content that sparks outrage and heated exchanges, without adequate safeguards to prevent the spread of harmful narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/image-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-130674\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/image-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/image-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/image-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/image.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our analysis shows that X\u2019s algorithmic design and policy choices contributed to heightened risks amid a wave of anti-Muslim and anti-migrant violence observed in several locations across the UK last year, and which continues to present a serious human rights risk today,&#8221; said Pat de Brun, head of Big Tech Accountability at Amnesty International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the analysis, false claims that the attacker was a Muslim asylum seeker spread rapidly on the platform. These narratives, amplified by X&#8217;s algorithm and posts from &#8220;Premium&#8221; (paid) accounts, contributed to riots across the UK where mosques and accommodation for asylum seekers were targeted. The report also notes that since Elon Musk&#8217;s takeover, X has laid off content moderation staff and reinstated accounts previously banned for hate or harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"615\" height=\"361\" src=\"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-07-104754.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-130676\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-07-104754.png 615w, https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/08\/Screenshot-2025-08-07-104754-300x176.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The report&#8217;s findings have led to calls from a UK parliamentary committee for Elon Musk to testify about X&#8217;s role in the riots.
