The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that reduced rainfall, dry soil, and higher-than-normal temperatures are the primary causes.<\/p>\n
According to a report from Khaama Press, the drought has had a significant impact on rain-fed wheat production and is endangering livestock due to a shortage of fodder. While some rain is in the forecast, experts are concerned that it may not be enough to reverse the effects of the prolonged dry spell.<\/p>\n
The drought is affecting multiple provinces, including Badghis, Ghor, Faryab, Sar-e Pol, Samangan, Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Daikundi, Bamyan, Parwan, and Kabul. Herat province is an exception, having returned to relatively normal conditions.<\/p>\n
