\nUNICEF and the United Kingdom\u2019s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) have agreed on a new \u00a31.5 million funding arrangement to ensure the ongoing delivery of vital water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services to over 100,000 Syrian refugees living in the Za\u2019atari and Azraq camps, the organization\u2019s website reported.<\/p>\n
Philippe Duamelle, UNICEF Representative in Jordan, stated, \u201cWith this generous support from the UK Government, we can continue to provide clean water and sanitation facilities to thousands of Syrian families. These services are essential for the health, dignity, and wellbeing of Syrian children and their families living in the camps. We deeply appreciate FCDO\u2019s sustained partnership in Jordan over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n
H.E. Philip Hall, British Ambassador to Jordan, added, \u201cAccess to water is a basic necessity, and this collaboration highlights the UK\u2019s commitment to improving the lives of refugees in Jordan.\u201d<\/p>\n
This funding will support the operation and maintenance of centralized water supply and wastewater systems in both camps from July 2025 through March 2026.
