\nA recent YouGov survey indicates that 40% of Britons believe Muslim immigrants have a negative impact on the UK, BBC reported. The poll, conducted in mid-July among 2,130 adults across Great Britain, was commissioned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ahead of the Jalsa Salana, the UK\u2019s largest Muslim convention, set to take place this weekend in Alton, Hampshire. The event is expected to draw around 40,000 attendees.<\/p>\n
The survey\u2019s findings have been described as \u201cdeeply worrying\u201d by Sabah Ahmedi, a 30-year-old imam known online as \u201cthe young imam.\u201d He highlighted that the fear and negativity toward Muslims largely stem from a lack of understanding about Islam. Ahmedi expressed sadness that British Muslims face dislike or hatred due to their faith and encouraged people to engage directly with Muslim communities to overcome misconceptions.<\/p>\n
Ahmedi also called on the media to contribute positively and emphasized that many Muslim immigrants in the UK embrace its values of freedom and tolerance, serving in various sectors including the NHS, armed forces, police, and education. At the convention, the Union flag will be displayed alongside the Islamic flag to symbolize the harmony between faith and national identity.<\/p>\n
It should be mentioned that the widespread Islamophobic propaganda and far-right-induced anti-Muslim sentiments fuelled by media campaigns have led to negative feelings and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims across most of Europe.<\/p>\n
