These installations provide a combined capacity of 1,335 kilowatts of electricity, according to a statement posted on UNDP\u2019s official X page on July 24.<\/p>\n<p>The project has directly benefited over 87,000 individuals, including 53,000 women and girls. By bringing reliable electricity to schools in remote regions, the program has enabled improved access to essential educational resources such as laboratories, computer classrooms, and internet connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>UNDP highlighted that solar energy plays a critical role beyond lighting, serving as a foundation for advancing education, healthcare, and economic development in these communities.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative comes amid ongoing challenges in Afghanistan\u2019s education sector. Nearly four years after the ban on girls\u2019 education beyond sixth grade was imposed, thousands of female students remain unable to pursue their studies.
