Regional media reported that groups armed with batons roamed the streets looking for migrants, despite a strong police presence.<\/p>\n<p>The violence began after a 68-year-old man said he was attacked by three young men of North African origin, with video of the assault circulating on social media. A peaceful demonstration organized by the town hall on Friday was overshadowed by far-right groups chanting anti-migrant slogans. One group called \u201cDeport Them Now\u201d posted calls for attacks online.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have urged calm in the town of 36,000. The regional president, Fernando L\u00f3pez Miras, acknowledged public anger but condemned the violence. Mayor Pedro Angel Roca Ternel called for residents to remain peaceful, while Youth Minister Sira Rego blamed the far-right for fueling tensions.
