\nNearly 70% of atomic bomb survivors in Japan fear that nuclear weapons might be used again, Anadolu Agency revealed citing a survey conducted by Kyodo News Agency ahead of the 80th anniversary of the US atomic bombings. The survey, which included around 1,500 survivors, found that 68.6% believe the risk of nuclear weapon use is rising, citing global tensions such as Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine and North Korea\u2019s weapons development.<\/p>\n
Additionally, 45.7% of respondents said they \u201ccannot forgive\u201d the US for the bombings, while 24.3% expressed \u201cno special feelings,\u201d and 16.9% were uncertain. This year marks 80 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki near the end of World War II. The bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, killed an estimated 140,000 people, followed by a second bomb on Nagasaki three days later, causing about 70,000 more deaths.
