\nAs Sudan\u2019s conflict enters its third year, the humanitarian situation is rapidly deteriorating, Reliefweb.int reported. Over 10 million people have been displaced, while the country\u2019s economy is in crisis. Essential services\u2014including water, sanitation, health care, and markets\u2014have been severely damaged.<\/p>\n
Fierce fighting continues in Greater Darfur and Greater Kordofan, causing critical food insecurity, poor health and nutrition outcomes, and severely limiting humanitarian access. Isolated communities in El Fasher and the Nuba Mountains face extreme food shortages, minimal access to basic services, and overstretched social support systems.<\/p>\n
According to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis, the food security and nutrition situation is expected to worsen significantly during the lean season from July to September 2025. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) and populations in famine-affected areas of North Darfur, South Kordofan, and other high-risk zones in Greater Darfur and Kordofan are most vulnerable.<\/p>\n
Alarmingly high levels of acute malnutrition were recorded during the post-harvest season, compounded by limited access to treatment services, posing severe risks to children\u2019s health during the lean months.<\/p>\n
