The report highlights critical shortfalls affecting those with conditions such as ADHD, menopause, and diabetes, causing distress and dangerous delays in care.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Race, APPG chairman, noted increasing concerns from constituents unable to access essential medicines, including antibiotics and life-sustaining treatments. The report describes medicine shortages as a chronic, structural challenge impacting the NHS and pharmacy sectors.<\/p>\n<p>A survey cited in the report found that over 90% of pharmacists and prescribers experienced shortages of ADHD medications, with 76% reporting issues with hormone replacement therapy and diabetes drugs. The APPG warned that shortages have significant negative effects on patient health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Pharmacists spend hours daily sourcing alternatives and managing patient anxiety, with many calling for changes to prescribing protocols to allow pharmacists greater flexibility during shortages.
