\nThe Allahabad High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to declare the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura as a disputed structure in the ongoing Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi case, Muslim Mirror reported. The petition was filed by Mahendra Pratap Singh, President of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nyas.<\/p>\n
Singh argued that the mosque stands on the site of a former Hindu temple, citing Hindu symbols on the mosque walls and lack of documentary proof that it is a mosque. He also pointed out the absence of the mosque in official land and municipal records, and no taxes paid on the property.<\/p>\n
The Muslim side countered that the Shahi Idgah mosque has existed for over 400 years and rejected the claim that it should be declared disputed.<\/p>\n
Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra ruled in favor of the Muslim side, refusing to classify the mosque as disputed property, unlike the Babri Masjid case.
