In Baghdad, two major centers, the Anwar al-Jawadayn Institute and the Islamic Thought Center of Ahl al-Bayt, attracted large numbers of believers and devotees to hold the first ten days of Muharram ceremonies. The events began with Quran recitations, followed by sermons from clerics and mourning rituals.
