A new study presented at the European Academy of Neurology Congress 2025 suggests that a simple blood test known as the TyG index \u2014 commonly used to measure insulin resistance \u2014 could help identify people with early Alzheimer\u2019s who are at higher risk of rapid cognitive decline.<\/p>\n
The study followed 315 older adults without diabetes for three years. Results showed that participants with higher TyG index scores were four times more likely to experience faster memory and cognitive deterioration than those with lower scores.<\/p>\n
Researchers say the TyG index, which combines common triglyceride and glucose measures, could be an affordable way to guide early, personalized interventions. Experts believe it may help doctors target high-risk patients for closer monitoring, lifestyle changes, or clinical trials.<\/p>\n
