The FreeMuslim Association\u2014an international anti-violence organization\u2014has strongly condemned what it described as a \u201chorrific massacre\u201d carried out by armed groups in the village of Manda, western Niger, which left more than seventy civilians dead \u2014 most of them worshippers on their way to a mosque.<\/p>\n
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization denounced the \u201ccowardly terrorist act\u201d as a flagrant violation of international law, divine teachings, and basic human norms. The group stressed that targeting people on their way to places of worship is a heinous crime that surpasses all limits of brutality.<\/p>\n
Offering its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Niger, the organization called on the international community and human rights bodies to take urgent measures, including: launching an immediate and transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the massacre and bring the perpetrators to justice without delay; ensuring full protection for civilians in areas vulnerable to attacks by armed groups \u2014 especially border villages in western Niger; supporting government efforts to combat terrorism in strict compliance with human rights and international law; and addressing the root causes of violence such as poverty, marginalization, and lack of justice, which fuel the spread of extremist violence.<\/p>\n
