\nA bipartisan group of U.S. Senators has called for urgent measures to address China\u2019s forced labor transfers of Uyghurs, NTV reported. In a letter dated June 18, 2025, to Christopher Pratt, Chair of the Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force (FLETF), the senators urged expanding the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFPLA) Entity List to cover factories outside Xinjiang where Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities are being relocated.<\/p>\n
The call follows a joint investigation by the New York Times, Bureau of Investigative Journalism, and Der Spiegel, revealing China\u2019s efforts to evade accountability by moving forced labor outside Xinjiang. The UFPLA currently lists 144 entities involved in forced labor, with 37 added earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Senators requested a briefing by July 18, 2025, on FLETF\u2019s plans to counteract these transfers and improve private sector compliance.
