\nUS President Donald Trump’s new travel ban, which restricts entry to the United States for citizens from 12 countries, came into effect on Monday amid rising tensions over his heightened immigration enforcement measures, Anadolu Agency reported. The proclamation, signed by Trump last week, targets nationals from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, according to CBS News.<\/p>\n

The ban also imposes tighter restrictions on individuals from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. Guidance issued on Friday to all US diplomatic missions clarified that the new restrictions do not invalidate visas already granted to people from these countries. However, starting Monday, new visa applications will be denied unless the applicant meets a limited exemption.<\/p>\n
