The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Kashmir has condemned the ongoing political arrests targeting pro-freedom leaders, activists, and thousands of detainees in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
\nAccording to the Kashmir Media Service, a conference spokesperson described the arrests as part of a retaliatory policy by Indian authorities against those opposing the occupation and advocating for self-determination. <\/p>\n
The spokesperson emphasized that the prolonged detentions lack any legal justification. The conference called on UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres to intervene and demand the immediate release of political prisoners, warning that their continued imprisonment only escalates tensions in the region.<\/p>\n
Many prominent political figures, the spokesperson noted, are currently held in New Delhi\u2019s Tihar Jail and other facilities under harsh conditions widely seen as violating international human rights standards. Despite the repression, the spokesperson affirmed that the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their legitimate struggle for freedom and justice.<\/p>\n
