Of the 121 recorded deaths, 38% were due to SCD, with professional bodybuilders facing over five times the risk compared to amateurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Dr. Marco Vecchiato from the University of Padova, the study attributes the heightened risk to intense training, rapid weight-loss practices, and potential use of performance-enhancing substances. Some autopsies showed enlarged hearts and coronary artery disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study urges greater awareness, regular cardiovascular screenings, and stronger anti-doping measures. It also calls for a cultural shift within the bodybuilding community to prioritize health over extreme physical appearance.
