The Grand Marja emphasized distancing from distorted practices introduced by oppressive rulers like those of the Umayyad and Abbasid eras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a recent speech, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi highlighted that many misconceptions about Islam stem from the actions of rulers such as Muawiyah, Yazid, Abdul Malik, Harun al-Rashid, and Al-Ma&#8217;mun, who misrepresented the faith while claiming to follow it.
