During the 13th meeting of the Regional Subcommittee on Polio Eradication and Outbreak Response, held virtually on Sunday, experts cited conflict, humanitarian crises, insecurity, and climate change as major factors hindering progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite significant advancements, polio remains a critical public health concern in the region. In response to cuts in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative\u2019s budget, which have affected key healthcare services including child vaccinations, WHO announced the implementation of emergency measures to sustain essential activities in endemic areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health ministers and representatives from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, the UAE, and Yemen participated in the discussions.
