In response to industry pressure, the European Commission said companies will now need to submit due diligence statements annually, rather than per shipment. The change aims to reduce bureaucracy while maintaining the regulation\u2019s core objectives, said EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the end of June, the EU will classify countries as high, standard, or low risk, with reduced compliance requirements for low-risk regions. Brussels introduced the adjustments after delaying the law by a year due to concerns from trade partners including Brazil, Indonesia, and the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
